Ahh_Sweet_Boredom asked:

I won’t be getting to the dentist for another couple of days, and the entire left side of my head is throbbing. Which is the best OTC medicine to take? Tylonol? Ibuprofin? Asprin? What worked for you?

I’d use ibuprofen on a regular schedule and maybe a little benzocaine (such as in Anbesol or Orajel) or even the old remedy of oil of cloves. The stuff tasts right nasty but it does relieve tooth pain. Just keep it away from your tongue.

Depending on what’s actually going on, some ice chips might also help. They might have the opposite effect, so be cautious.

Take one Tylenol and one Advil at the same time. Both of them taken together have a synergistic action compared to Tylenol #3. And don’t forget to go to the dentist asap…

I would try to get in as soon as you can. That happened to me and it was an infected tooth (abscessed). I had to go on antibiotics for a week. I was one of the worse pains I have experienced. If it is really bad you could also go to your family doctor. Hopefully thats not what it is though, the longer you leave it the worse it gets. Good luck!! The advil and tylenol together works okay but doesn’t rid the pain.
