This is the Men’s Health magazine Medicine Ball Ab Workout Challenge from the December 2008 issue.

The medicine ball ab workout was created by the strength and conditioning coach from the University of North Carolina Tar Heels.

It contains a lot of medicine ball crunches, a round of situps, and some other medicine ball exercises to help you get six pack abs.

But the Men’s Health workout contains a lot of situps and crunches, which might be fine for college athletes, but aren’t a good idea for men and women who spend a lot of time sitting and
putting their low back at risk for injury.

Here’s the full Men’s Health medicine ball ab workout challenge.

A) Big Circles - 20
B) WoodChoppers - 20
C) Standing Russian Twist - 20
D) Squat to press - 20
E) Med ball Sit ups - 20
F) Rocky Solos - 10/10 = 20
G) Toe Touch - 20
F) 45 Degrees torso Twist (LEGS UP/FEET UP!) - 10/10 per side = 20
G) Suitcase Crunch 10/10 = 20
H) Diagonal Crunch - 20 reps

Those are some tough medicine ball exercises for your abs.

Its all about variety, thats how you build muscle, don’t just try one type of exercise. The more you can change things up the better the results you will see. good luck

why is this better/worse then crunches or anything else?

i would of thought there must be one system that beats all and to be honest i see so many people useing medicine balls and get nothing out of it but then i guess that could just be the person lol

tans are overrated, give you melanomas ,age your skin.
fake tans are just lain LAME.
wear the skin you have well, whatever the colour, and be healthy happy and care less about such BS as tanning.
Vanity is for the shallow people.

Thanks i always i knew that after working out and eating something [even if it is light] i felt i was “recycling” my food over and over again. will check out that abs diet.

herosresolve on 26 July, 2008 at 1:45 pm #

well first off starving yourself is one of the worst things to do, your body needs to eat, and when you starve yourself it eats the protein in your muscles first, then your fat. a great weight loss exercise is cardio, other than that and the other exercises shown here and other places, you need to eat right, eating the wrong foods just counters what you do when you work out. so go to something like the abs diet to find out what you should and should not eat.

Why don’t you ask the 1000’s of people who’ve bought Turbulence Training weather or not CB’s workouts are effective or not? Good stuff, Craig!

I am so glad that Craig posted this. He is my fav fitness author at the moment. His workouts are effective, functional and practical. I am glad that he has his shirt off because this is a AB video. He normally has a baggy shirt on and shirtless we can really see the exercise. Peace.
