He could try drinking lemonade and/or cranberry juice…other than that, I don’t know of any natural remedies for kidneys.

Willowbark tea (from the inner bark of the tree) is an ancient pain remedy. In fact, aspirin is based on it. I suppose you could get it from a tree yourself, or from a health-food store. Maybe an ethnic-type grocery would have it. You should also check out the book; Back to Eden by Jethro Kloss. There should be a copy in the library. LOTS of help in it.

Lemonade and cranberry juice, like sarge said, he has to drink lots of fluids and be careful with herbal products. It’s probably worthwhile to check with the pharmacy.
I know it ***** without insurance, I don’t have health insurance either, but but there are diseases affecting the kidney that can turn bad really fast. Maybe your dad could go to your county hospital, a free clinic, and most emergency rooms will either give the treatment for free or on a sliding scale.

I hope he feels better soon!

Really the only thing that might help with pain is an over-the-counter analgesic. Unfortunately, these help with only mild pain. Without know exactly what your father’s kidney problem is, I don’t feel safe advising anything more than this. I suggest you stay away from herbal “remedies” as these may worsen the problem.

I think the suggestion to try a free clinic is a good one. I don’t agree with the idea to use an ER. These are NOT free and your father WILL be billed if he is unable to pay at the time service is rendered. Please don’t consider abusing our EMS system. This is why ERs close.
