An inspirational story about the body’s ability to teach the brain. A baby born 20 years ago without a third of her cerebellum was given a grim prognosis by medical doctors: she could never walk or talk. Now the young woman enjoys a nearly normal life and is a college student. She and her family attribute her amazing recovery to Feldenkrais, a unique therapy developed in Israel and based in part on the belief that the body can actually teach the brain. The technique is now used by more than 4,000 practitioners around the world.

Looks like a wonderful way of utilizing natural bodily structure to offset the external forces that would trigger improper utilization of muscular and neurological functioning that would harmonize the body -mind connection and vice a versa.

That’s a wonderful presentation of the possibilities of the Feldenkrais Method. I take an Awareness Through Movement lesson each Monday in Mount Airy, MD from a Feldenkrais Guild member, Carl Minkel. I’m 52 and it has done wonders for me healing old sports injuries and healing and then preventing lower back pain that used to lock me up.
